What does RIRA stand for?

At the core of the Rhode Island Republican Assembly is the proposition that it is the duty of the public servant to place the common good ahead of his own.

  • This most basic requirement of good government has been lacking in Rhode Island for quite some time.
  • As conservatives, we demand of our leaders a superior level of honesty, integrity, and respect for the law.

Objectives of the Rhode Island Republican Assembly

  • To recruit, educate, train and motivate individuals to run for public office who are irrevocably committed to uphold and fight for constitutional principles and the preservation of the republic.
  • To increase Republican voter registration.
  • To promote conservatism in the tradition of the Founding Fathers.
  • To bring back to the Republican Party those who have been disaffected by the perception that the party has moved away from its core principles.
  • To watchdog elected officials and insure their adherence to conservative Republican principles.
  • To identify and oppose those individuals, groups and agendas that would, knowingly or otherwise, bring about the loss of our freedoms and the destruction of our republic through the violation of the constitution and the erosion of the traditional family or public morals.
  • To inform the public regarding correct principles relative to issues and the qualifications of candidates for public office.
  • To maintain the integrity of the Republican Party platform based on correct moral and constitutional principles; then to use the platform as a criteria of accountability for elected officials.

The Republican Wing of the Republican Party
  • The Indiana Republican Assembly (INRA) has endorsed conservative candidate JD Miniear for US House 7th District for the Indiana Primaries on May 6, 2014. Miniear is running to unseat Andre Carson (D), and would be the first Republican to win that seat in 42 years.

  • Suppose a scientific conference on cancer prevention never addressed smoking, on the grounds that in a free society you can't change private behavior, and anyway, maybe the statistical relationships between smoking and cancer are really caused by some other third variable. Wouldn't some suspect that the scientists who raised these claims were driven by something—ideology, tobacco money—other than science? Intellectuals fretting about income disparity are oddly silent regarding the decline of the two-parent family. . .

  • One group in banking stands out as highly paid—federal bank regulators. Fewer than 7% of employees in any of these regulatory agencies earned less than $50,000. In other words, 93% of the employees in these federal bank regulatory agencies earned more than the average banker's salary in 2012. . .

  • It is a matter of no small importance to the success of the people of my race in Mississippi that business men, teachers, and the members of the different religious denominations are uniting disinterestedly in the effort to give the coloured children of the state a proper and adequate education, and that they are using their influence to encourage the masses of the people to get property and build homes. . .

  • In the 1950s 35 percent of American workers belonged to labor unions. This fell to 20.1 percent in 1983 and 11.3 percent in 2013. Between 1983 and 2013, union membership fell from 17.7 to 14.5 million while the population of the United States grew from 233.79 million to 316.99 million. . . Unions are in decline, yet they are still the most that powerful political structure in the United States and will remain so for the foreseeable future. But much has changed. As unions have been beaten back from corporate America they have moved to organize the public sector . . .

  • Coming May 3, the Nevada Republican Assembly will hold their endorsing convention at the beautiful Siena Hotel Spa Casino in Reno. The event will also feature a presidential straw poll! Click below for details about registrations and the event schedule:

  • The Culture War Is Over Talk lacks historical context. During the hedonistic Roaring 20's and the Dirty Filthy Hippie 60's, the Left was probably pretty sure they had won the culture wars. Has the Left won the culture war? Pundits on all sides think that it has. But let's start with the biggie: same-sex marriage -- and then take a look at ten other issues . . .

  • “Years ago, I used to have 52 neighboring ranchers,” he said. “I’m the last man standing. How come? Because BLM regulated these people off the land and out of business.”

About the Rhode Island Republican Assembly

The RIRA is a private membership organization of Republican activists who work to promote conservative ideals within the Republican Party of Rhode Island. Most of our members are also active members of the Rhode Island Republican State Central Committee and/or of the various Republican city and town committees throughout the state. Among other things, the RIRA hosts monthly dinner meetings, where like-minded conservatives discuss current events, debate intra-party issues, formulate political strategies, as well as hear from select conservative speakers.
