What does RIRA stand for?

At the core of the Rhode Island Republican Assembly is the proposition that it is the duty of the public servant to place the common good ahead of his own.

  • This most basic requirement of good government has been lacking in Rhode Island for quite some time.
  • As conservatives, we demand of our leaders a superior level of honesty, integrity, and respect for the law.

Objectives of the Rhode Island Republican Assembly

  • To recruit, educate, train and motivate individuals to run for public office who are irrevocably committed to uphold and fight for constitutional principles and the preservation of the republic.
  • To increase Republican voter registration.
  • To promote conservatism in the tradition of the Founding Fathers.
  • To bring back to the Republican Party those who have been disaffected by the perception that the party has moved away from its core principles.
  • To watchdog elected officials and insure their adherence to conservative Republican principles.
  • To identify and oppose those individuals, groups and agendas that would, knowingly or otherwise, bring about the loss of our freedoms and the destruction of our republic through the violation of the constitution and the erosion of the traditional family or public morals.
  • To inform the public regarding correct principles relative to issues and the qualifications of candidates for public office.
  • To maintain the integrity of the Republican Party platform based on correct moral and constitutional principles; then to use the platform as a criteria of accountability for elected officials.

The Republican Wing of the Republican Party
  • After recently facing controversy for dumbing down the SAT to better align it with the Obama-backed Common Core national education standards, College Board boss and Common Core architect David Coleman is once again at the center of an escalating political firestorm. This time, the powerful “educrat” and the federally funded outfit he leads are under fire for literally trying to rewrite American history . . .

  • In People v. Tom, California's Supreme Court justices upheld the prosecution of a man based on the district attorney's argument that the defendant's silence was evidence of guilt. The cop shows make these matters seem simple. A person is arrested. The officer reads the suspect the Miranda wording. Suspects can then clam up and wait for an attorney. In real life, though, these matters can become more complicated and legalistic. . .

  • Often during the very cold nights I have gone into the rooms of these students at midnight to see how they were getting along, and have found them sitting up by the fire, with blankets wrapped about them, as the only method of keeping warm. Still, notwithstanding these inconveniences and hardships, I think I never heard a complaint from the lips of a single student. They always seemed filled with gratitude for the opportunity to go to school under any circumstances. . .

  • The more things change the more they remain the same. The American left has not changed. Those that are in Ferguson today rioting and looting in the name of social justice—the New Black Panthers are on the scene demanding death for the policeman involved—are merely the descendants of all those kids from 1970. And let it be noted that the vast majority of those kids in 1970 were white middle-class kids who launched a wave of violence in the spring and summer of 1970 because they objected to American foreign policy. Say again, American foreign policy. . .

  • In what follows, I will first give Warren’s “commandment,” and then explain how each so-called commandment cannot be implemented without official state violence and coercion. I emphasize that I am not going to use hyperbole or paint Warren in a false light. I’m sure she is a nice person when one meets her. My point is not that Warren is nice or nasty, but rather that she espouses a political economy that is based on political favors for some coupled with fierce intolerance toward many. . .

  • It was the focus of the film The Social Network, but critics say that Facebook has become a political network — one that is two-faced and facing left. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has long been pushing amnesty and targeting politicians who oppose it. Now, warns American Thinker’s Jonathon Moseley, Facebook is going so far as to block Republican activism from its website and may use social-network manipulation to turn out the vote for liberal candidates.

  • After a few months had passed, I wrote Gen. J. F. B. Marshall, at that time treasurer of the Hampton Institute, and put our condition before him, telling him that there was an abandoned farm about a mile from the town of Tuskegee in the market which I could secure at a very cheap price for our institution. As I had absolutely no money with which to make the first payment on the farm, I summoned the courage to ask Gen. Marshall to lend me $500 with which to make the first payment. To my surprise a letter came back in a few days enclosing a check for $500. A contract was made for the purchase of the farm, which at that time consisted of 100 acres. Subsequent purchases and gifts of adjacent lands have increased the number of acres at this place to 700, and this is the present site of the Tuskegee Institute. . .

  • Is World War IV on the verge of beginning? With President Obama in the role of the reluctant leader whose actions have invited global catastrophe? What do World War I, World War II, the Cold War, Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan all have in common? All began with events that were far from American shores, events that went on for years or decades before a trigger-pulling, explosive event that launched the war in question. And in each and every case as events proceeded there was a segment of the American population of the day, sometimes a majority, that looked at what was happening and simply didn’t want to get involved. Believing — always wrongly, as it would turn out — that the events in motion could never involve them if they simply chose to not involve themselves.

About the Rhode Island Republican Assembly

The RIRA is a private membership organization of Republican activists who work to promote conservative ideals within the Republican Party of Rhode Island. Most of our members are also active members of the Rhode Island Republican State Central Committee and/or of the various Republican city and town committees throughout the state. Among other things, the RIRA hosts monthly dinner meetings, where like-minded conservatives discuss current events, debate intra-party issues, formulate political strategies, as well as hear from select conservative speakers.
